Accomplishments as Sarnia-Lambton MP since 2015

Brought over $300 million dollars of federal funding to the riding to stimulate business:

  • Woodland Biofuels pilot turning wood into biodiesel
  • Origin Plastics, BioAmber and the Nova Expansion
  • Negotiated with Federal and Provincial Governments to secure the oversize load corridor
  • Resulted in the creation of over 3000 jobs in the bio industry, petrochemical sector reducing the unemployment rate from 9 percent to 6 percent.
  • Actively fought the closing of Line 5 to save jobs.

Fought for improvements to affordable housing in Sarnia.

Secured infrastructure federal funding for roads and bridges, storm water sewers, shoreline erosion in Sarnia

Provided gap analysis for seniors, which resulted in long term care home construction, seniors transportation services:

  • Advocated since 2015 for a 10% increase for OAS and an additional $500 grant for seniors
  • Was awarded the International Home Instead Homecare Award for seniors advocacy in 2019.

Supported agriculture:

  • Secured funding for Comet Biofuels, a co-op using corn stover to produce biofuels
  • Worked on establishing a processing hub in Sarnia Lambton for beef, chicken, pork and milk with Lianne Rood.

Was twice voted Most Collegial Parliamentarian by her peers.

Passed a Private Member’s Bill to secure palliative care for all Canadians in 2018.

Was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers and Engineers Canada in 2018.

Served as Shadow Minister for Health, Science, Economic Development for Southern Ontario & Privy Council.

Chaired the Status of Women committee,

  • Conducted hearings into sexual assault in the Canadian Armed Forces
  • Organized and hosted a Town Hall on human trafficking.

Was also Vice Chair of Health committee, Co-Chaired the Parliamentary rail caucus, served as Vice President of the aerospace caucus and Vice Chair of the Health Research Caucus:

All this, and so much more. Marilyn Gladu has spent six years working tirelessly for the people of Sarnia—Lambton and indeed the entire country at the same time.
